Accountants
Many of your portfolio landlord clients have a succession problem that tax advice alone can’t solve. I help them solve it, working alongside you rather than around you.
What I do for your clients
My Portfolio Succession Plan models a landlord’s whole position, property by property, and tests each realistic route against their figures: discretionary trusts with holdover relief, family partnerships, incorporation under s.162, freezer and growth shares, family investment companies and wills and LPAs. The client receives a recommended plan and a 10-year roadmap, and I carry out the legal implementation at fixed fees.
How we work together
| You | Me |
|---|---|
| Accounts, returns and tax computations | Trusts, property law, stamp duty land tax, wills and succession |
| The figures you already hold: base costs, accounts, gift history | Collating, modelling and testing the routes |
| Your view on the s.162 business test and partnership status | Building that view into the plan; no incorporation recommended without it |
| A preview of the draft plan before the client sees it | An invitation to the strategy meeting, if useful |
| Ongoing compliance for any trust, partnership or company | Drafting and implementing the legal documents |
Which clients to introduce
- An estate of around £2m or more, including home and pensions
- Residential lettings held personally or in a partnership, with significant gains on older purchases
- Roughly 55 or over, with adult children
- Wanting to keep the portfolio rather than sell it
The Succession Plan costs your client £4,500 + VAT, invoiced only after the strategy meeting, with up to £1,500 credited against any recommended work instructed within 60 days. An initial conversation to scope their suitability for the work is provided for no charge.
